چکیده

In this paper we review the basic concepts of integral-geometry-based morphological image analysis. This approach yields an objective, numerical characterization of twoand threedimensional patterns in terms of geometrical and topological descriptors called Minkowski functionals. We review its mathematical foundation and show that it is easy to put the theory into practice by presenting simple computer algorithms to perform the analysis. Illustrative examples are given of applications of this approach to simple lattice structures, random point sets and minimal surfaces. As a more advanced application we show how the technique can be used to obtain a morphological characterization of computer tomography images of metal foams.

Mathematical Morphology on Hypergraphs: Preliminary Definitions and Results

In this article we introduce mathematical morphology on hypergraphs. We first define lattice structures and then mathematical morphology operators on hypergraphs. We show some relations between these operators and the hypergraph structure, considering in particular duality and similarity aspects.

Computing Prosodic Morphology

This paper establishes a framework under which various aspects of prosodic morphology, such as templatic morphology and infixation, can be handled under two-level theory using an implemented multi-tape two-level model. The paper provides a new computational analysis of root-and-pattern morphology based on prosody.

A short tour of mathematical morphology on edge and vertex weighted graphs

1.1 Introduction Mathematical morphology is a discipline of image analysis that was introduced in the mid-1960s by two researchers at thé Ecole des Mines in Paris: Georges Matheron [1] and Jean Serra [2, 3]. Historically, it was the first consistent non-linear image analysis theory, which from the very start included not only theoretical results but also many practical aspects. Due to the algeb...

Associative memories based on fuzzy mathematical morphology and an application in prediction

Fuzzy associative memories belong to the class of fuzzy neural networks that employ fuzzy operators such as fuzzy conjunctions, disjunctions, and implications in order to store associations of fuzzy patterns. Fuzzy associative memories are generally used to implement fuzzy rule-based systems. Applications of FAMs include backing up a truck and trailer, target tracking, human-machine interfaces,...

A NEW FUZZY MORPHOLOGY APPROACH BASED ON THE FUZZY-VALUED GENERALIZED DEMPSTER-SHAFER THEORY

In this paper, a new Fuzzy Morphology (FM) based on the GeneralizedDempster-Shafer Theory (GDST) is proposed. At first, in order to clarify the similarity ofdefinitions between Mathematical Morphology (MM) and Dempster-Shafer Theory (DST),dilation and erosion morphological operations are studied from a different viewpoint. Then, based on this similarity, a FM based on the GDST is proposed. Unlik...
